On July 29, 2010 Mrs. Autry received a call from the Marine Headquarters that her son LCPL Kevin E.Autry was seriously injured on July 28, 2010 in Marjah, Afghanistan when the troops came under sporadic fire. He had received multiple gun shot wounds his condition was serious but stable. LCPL Autry would be flown to a hospital in Germany to receive surgery and treatment. Because of LCPL Autry injuries he underwent multiple surgeries in Afghanistan and was flown to a hospital in Germany on August 2, 2010. LCPL was able to view his injuries on the 5th for the first time after receiving a procedure called Clean-up surgery at the hospital in Germany. He was flown back to the states to Bethesda Hospital in Maryland where he underwent another surgery and was greeted by his wife and parents upon his awakening. LCPL is now recovering at home with the help of a local therapist and the Veterans Hospital in Durham.
Autry’s parents would like for everyone to give God a prayer of thanks. Although they are very proud of their sons, they feel all glory is to God.
LCPL Autry is the grandson of the Annie Mae and the belated Lynn E. Adams who was one of Holly Springs first black business owners. LCPL Autry is the son of Clifton and Lynnest A. Autry and brother of Army SGFC Travis L. Autry who at present is aboard serving his third or fourth tour in Iraq.
