Ms. Rizzo and her husband, Ralph, lived in New York and Virginia before he was transferred by IBM to the Triangle area. The couple chose to live in Fuquay-Varina until their four children were grown. They moved to Raleigh for several years then returned to Fuquay-Varina.

Ms. Rizzo has been writing most of her life, short stories, poetry and now her first novel. It was published by G.W. Zouck of Berkleyville, Md
