The Fuquay-Varina Public Library is happy to announce the start of a new program for our school age readers – SEE SPOT READ. The program starts on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fuquay-Varina Public Library and continues on the first Saturday of each month (excluding December) at the same time. Just stop in – no registration is required.
The SEE SPOT READ program is designed to provide a safe and fun educational experience that brings dogs and kids together to boost reading skills. During the program, kids will have a chance to read in small groups with a specially trained and certified therapy dog. Kids love to read to dogs and the dogs love to listen to the kids! Reading with a dog is relaxing and fun, and builds a positive connection to reading activities. Reading can be more fun when a dog is involved. The See Spot Read organization provides reading support to school age children at the Wake County libraries. Their programs also foster positive interactions between children and dogs.
