Anne Hale of Vandora Springs Elementary School recently attended a seminar held at the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching, a recognized national leader in professional development programming for our state’s teachers.

NCCAT positively impacts public education by providing extraordinary professional development for North Carolina teachers throughout their careers. NCCAT’s instructional programming is designed to give teachers support and resources they need to be highly effective and enhance student achievement. NCCAT conducts interdisciplinary, content-specific, residential seminars for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade teachers in the environmental and biological sciences, arts, humanities, mathematics, leadership and technology.

The Power of Words seminar that Hale attended provides a unique collaborative environment to connect with successful authors from around the nation. In association with Western Carolina University’s Spring Literary Festival, teachers learned secrets of master writers and writing strategies from renowned authors. They also learned ways to help motivate students to read while connecting reading and writing across the curriculum.
